71 y/o F with multiple household animals presents with fever and a palpable area in the left axilla. What is the most likely diagnosis?

CAT-SCRATCH DISEASE

  • Introduction of Bartonella Henselae by scratch/bite
  • Patient has painful unilateral or regional lymphadenopathy
  • Treated with or without antibiotics and symptoms subside in a few weeks
  • Follow-up US imaging can be performed to ensure resolution/appropriate post-treatment changes
