58 y/o female with history of left breast invasive ductal carcinoma and recent MRSA bacteremia on antibiotics presents for diagnostic MRI. What is the most likely diagnosis?

INTRAMUSCULAR ABSCESS

  • Look out for a history of bacteremia or immunocompromise
  • MRI: + Peripheral enhancement, centrally T1/T2 hypointense
  • If accessible, treatment involves percutaneous aspiration and IV antibiotics, +/- incision and drainage
